Term 1 week 8 learning log @ 1:33 AM

On monday, we had our literature lesson as usual. Mr Chua came in to our class and we greeted him. After the greeting he told us that we will be going to start Romeo and Juliet story. Finally a new shakespeare story to learn and study. At first he told us to join our table together in pairs. Then he told us to take out our file and pencil case to stand beside our table, I did not know what he wanted us to do. Then he splitted us into pairs according to our register number. He said that we can choose our own partner but our partner must be within the register number teacher had assign to, so we can do our pairs work. I partner Xin Yin as she is within the register number Mr Chua had assigned to and she is my best friend so I think we can work together very well. After the splitting, he called us to sit down with our partner. Register 1-10 would be sitting on the first two rows of the table, register 11-20 would be sitting on the third and forth rows of the table, register 21-30 would be sitting on the fifth and sixth rows of the table while the rest of the register number would be sitting on the last rows and the remaining of the table. After we had settle down, Mr Chua gave us a piece of worksheet. The worksheet is about Character traits of the story Romeo and Juliet. He explain to us each of the words on the worksheet, so to help us know what the meaning of the words and write it at a correct character. Then Mr Chua shows us one of the scene in the movie of Romeo and Juliet, it also part of our script. While Mr Chua is speaking to us about Romeo and Juliet, he keep on going to Merchant of Venice and we stopped him. He also said that we can noted down the traits of the character, he assign to us. The character that I am doing is Romeo. The movie took quite a long time, but it was nice. After the movie ends, Mr Chua explained to us how the character traits worksheet must be done. By the time he finish explaining, there were not much time left so he told us to read the script and do the worksheet. When the bell is about to ring, Mr Chua showed us some of the good example of the mind-map. The mind-map must have 4 traits of each character we will doing. After the explanation, he gave each pair a piece of A4 size paper to do our mind-map and to submitted by next monday together with the two character traits worksheets. The bell then rang. We greeted him properly and the lesson ended.

On friday, it is a special day as we had two period of literature lesson. The first period of literature lesson was in the morning , from 10.45am to 11.30am, while the second period of literature lesson was in the afternoon, from 3.15pm to 4pm, actually the second period is a make up lesson.

On the morning period of literature lesson, Mr Chua and a female trainee teacher came into our class. We greeted both of them as teachers. Trainee teacher went to the back of the class and sat down on a chair. While Mr Chua started his lesson with us. He returned to us our God of Mercy worksheet. Some of our classmates shared with us the example of god's mercy such as Buddhist, Christian, Hindu and Muslim. Unfortunately, I did not share with the class my god's mercy because I did not have the courage, one of the reason was I have quite a lot of cross and question mark on the front of the worksheet and comments from Mr Chua said that I'm not showing evidence of thinking. After going through the worksheet, he gave us a piece of worksheet on Imagery. The worksheet had 3 part on the front, each part brieftly explain what Romeo said to describe Juliet as a beautiful girl among all in the party. The speech Romeo used to describe Juliet:

Oh, she doth teach the torches to burn bright!
It seems she hangs upon the cheek of night
Like a rich jewel in an Ethiope's ear,
Beauty too rich for use, for earth too dear.
So shows a snowy dove trooping with crows
As yonder ladyo'er her fellows shows.
The measuredone, I'll watch her place of stand,
And, touching hers, make blessed my rude hand.
Did my heart love till now? Forswaer it, sight!
For I never saw true beauty till this night.

Don't you think this part is so nice to describe a girl like Juliet. When going through the Imagery worksheet, Mr Chua can't stop using himself as an example. Whenever he used himself as an example, we will make some noise and the class laughed. The bell rang while we will going through 2/3 of the front worksheet. So Mr Chua rushed through the last part of the front paper. Than he told us to do the back of the worksheet and hand in next monday with the mind-map and character traits. We greeted both teachers and the lesson ends.

On the afternoon, before we start the lesson, Mr Chua want us to greet him and the trainee teacher again. During the make up lesson, Mr Chua continue the last question on Imagery. After that he told us to bring our pencil case and literature file, and line up in two outside the class. Than we went down to Movers and shakers Gallery, where we can find some history of our founding fathers. Mr Chua wanted us to find a partner and sit down on the floor. When we had settle down, he told us what to do. After telling us what to do, he distributed a worksheet to us. Once again he repeated that the marks of the worksheet will be part of our CA marks and he want us to do it properly. I saw the question on the worksheet and in my mind I think is this a history lesson or a literature lesson? As we need to answer question about our founding fathers. Mr Chua told us that all the answer could be found there. After telling us so much he told us to go find the answer, and everyone went serching for answer in a hurried as not much time left for us. Some of them had done finish within 20minutes and hand in the worksheet to him but Mr Chua don't let them go and want them to sit on the floor and wait for everyone to finish before dispersing us. When everyone is done, we did not greet both Mr Chua and the trainee teacher, and Mr Chua dismissed us. We went back to the class and packed our things and we went home.

Back to the top, babeh?
